Avs beat Leafs for 10th straight win

TORONTO (AP) Colorado goalie Jonathan Bernier heard the Bronx cheers from the Air Canada Centre crowd on Monday night.

He remembers listening to Toronto fans giving him the same sort of hard time when he was a member of the Maple Leafs as they struggled through the 2015-16 season.

"It's not as bad when you are the away team," he said.

Bruins' McAvoy out with heart issue

BOSTON (AP) Boston Bruins rookie Charlie McAvoy has been treated for an abnormal heart rhythm and is expected to need about two weeks to recover.

The 20-year-old defenseman first reported heart palpitations to team doctors on Nov. 26. He was diagnosed with an abnormally fast heart rate. Team internist David Finn says it is not considered dangerous but is likely to recur.

CHICAGO (AP) Andrei Vasilevskiy was terrific, Chris Kunitz made a clutch play and Tampa Bay's penalty killers had a big night.

Wings' Mrazek earns 2nd straight shutout

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Petr Mrazek wants more playing time and Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill is probably going to give it to him.

Mrazek had 37 saves in posting his second straight shutout and third of the season as the Red Wings played one of their best games of the season in beating the slumping New Jersey Devils 3-0 on Monday night.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) Daniel Winnik walked the final block to the arena so he wouldn't be late. Tyler Ennis rear-ended teammate Matt Dumba as the two approached Minnesota's Xcel Energy Center. Jonas Brodin arrived just minutes before the pregame warmups because of a blizzard hitting the Twin Cities.

Stripped of their normal pregame routine, the Wild were still plenty prepared to face Ottawa.

Eichel gets Sabres past Flames in OT

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) It took some extra time, but Jack Eichel finally solved Mike Smith.

On his 13th attempt and seventh shot on goal of the night, Eichel scored 1:30 into overtime to give the Buffalo Sabres their first win at Calgary in more than 14 years, 2-1 over the Flames on Monday night.

Cousins lifts Coyotes over Isles in OT

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Arizona Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet praised center Nick Cousins after, not just for his game-winning goal against the New York Islanders but also for his improved overall play.

Cousins scored his second goal of the game 2:21 into overtime to lift the Coyotes to a 3-2 win over the Islanders on Monday night.

US hockey GM dies unexpectedly at 53

Longtime USA Hockey executive and U.S. Olympic men's hockey general manager Jim Johannson died unexpectedly Sunday at age 53, shocking the sport less than three weeks before the start of the Pyeongchang Games.

Johannson died in his sleep at his home in Colorado Springs, according to USA Hockey. His death came in the midst of the most high-profile role in his career: putting together the U.S. men's Olympic hockey team without NHL players going to South Korea, a position he relished after doing so at several world junior and world championships.

Flyers beat Caps in OT for 7th win in 8

WASHINGTON (AP) The Philadelphia Flyers are already in playoff mode. That was enough to beat the spotty Washington Capitals.

Travis Konecny scored 27 seconds into overtime, and the surging Flyers beat the Capitals 2-1 on Sunday.
